
Walking in unspoilt countryside, riding a steam railway through dramatic scenery, strolling on a beach or popping into a tearoom for afternoon tea - all this and more is on the doorstep of Hideaway Cottage.



The cottage is ideally placed with both the North York Moors National Park and the beautiful coastline on the doorstep, ready for you to explore. There are a few walks out from the cottage - a stroll up the bank to Sleights is a great place to start. Sleights has two pubs, both serving food, a fish & chip restaurant and takeaway, a small Spar, post office, bakers and best of all Radfords, the award winning butcher and delicatessen which is a foodie's heaven, lauded by Delia Smith amongst others.
Take a walk from the cottage along the beck to the river Esk and stop off at the riverside garden tearooms or follow the river to Ruswarp and hire a rowing boat. A short drive away are the villages of Goathland and Grosmont where you can hop onto a steam train on the North Yorkshire Moors railway and take in the spectacular moorland scenery.
A short drive away there is the historic fishing town of Whitby with its Abbey, quaint cobbled streets, shops, boutiques, tearooms, restaurants and pubs. The pretty coastal villages of Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay are also within a few miles drive.Further afield, the Minster town of York, just over an hours drive away, is a lovely place to spend a day with great shops, restaurants and bars as well as places of historical interest, museums and galleries.
